Fanciful Doll | Growth accelerator Client

“Having support during a difficult sales period, help with forward planning to take pressure off me, technical help like finding different aps to help achieve what we needed, handholding (!) with the live events as these were great and I wouldn't have forced myself to do them without you.

I think the value I got out of it was wonderful for the price. And I also liked the fact that you gave me lots to do (even if I didn't have time for it all), because I think it is better to give too many ideas than to give too few.”

When you’re excited…but secretly terrified YOU’ll launch to crickets

This is the part nobody puts on Instagram, isn’t it.

You’re proud of what you’ve created. You’ve put time into it. You can picture the brand coming to life.

But in the quiet moments, your brain starts doing that thing:

😬 What if nobody buys?

😬 What if people don’t like it?

😬 What if I spend all this money and make a loss?

😬 Am I missing something important?

And you can’t “Google” your way out of that uncertainty.

Because when you’re building your first collection, there’s so much you don’t know yet…and you don’t even know what you’re meant to be looking for.

The Collection Review is the outside perspective that helps everything snap into focus, before production turns your collection into an expensive guessing game.

This isn’t a design critique

Let me stop you right there.

This isn’t me pulling your designs apart or giving you random opinions.

And it’s definitely not a style critique.

You’re not here for “I like it” or “I don’t like it”.

You’re here for the business side of fashion.

This is a strategic review to make sure your collection is set up to:

✅ Appeal to your target customer (so they want it, not just admire it)

✅ Work as a range, so buying more than one piece feels easy

Increase profitability, because outfit-building = higher income

✅ Feel worth the price, so you’re not discounting out of desperation

✅ Be efficient to manufacture, so your costs don’t quietly spiral

In short: we’re making sure your collection isn’t just beautiful.

It’s sellable, sensible, and built to support a scaleable business.

Coeur et Maman | MARKETING AUDIT CLIENT

‘I just wanted to say thank you so much for the wonderful insights in the business audit report. I'm still going through them all and actioning them, but it has all galvanised activity and it feels like I have a clear path forward. I'll definitely reach out with more questions around some of the aspects, but for now I'm just focusing on the marketing and website.’

What I’ll Audit in The Collection Review

Your collection as a range (and how it sells together)

A collection isn’t just a few nice designs.

It’s a plan.

And the strongest collections do something very specific:

They make it easy for someone to think…

I’ll take that top…and that skirt…oooh and the jacket that looks super cute with it

That’s not just a nice customer moment.

That’s profitability

In the audit, I’ll look at things like:

➡️ Whether there’s a strong mix of hero pieces and supporting pieces

So you’re not relying on one item to carry the whole launch.

➡️ Whether anything feels repetitive, unclear, or out of place

So you can tighten the range and remove the pieces that could be a waste of money

➡️ Whether the collection feels realistic to produce

So you don’t end up in production stress because things are harder (or pricier) than they looked on paper.

➡️ Where small refinements could improve efficiency behind the scenes

So you protect your margins early, before production locks your costs in.

Profit potential (and where money could be leaking)

This is the bit most founders only figure out after the fact.

You can have a collection that sells…

And still end up thinking, “Why is my bank balance so low?

Profit doesn’t disappear in one dramatic moment.

It leaks out quietly through small decisions that feel harmless at the time.

In the audit, I’ll look at things like:

➡️ Whether certain pieces are likely to cost more to make than they’ll return

So you don’t put time and money into designs that are difficult to sell profitably.

➡️ Whether your collection mix supports profitability overall

So you’re not building a range that’s heavy on low-margin pieces.

➡️ Where small shifts could improve margin without changing the identity of your designs

So you can keep your collection true to your brand, but still commercially strong.

Manufacturing efficiency (so production doesn’t eat your profit)

This is where a lot of first collections get painful.

Not because the designs are bad.

But because production has a way of turning small choices into big costs

In the audit, I’ll look at whether your collection is realistic to manufacture, and whether it can be produced efficiently and financially sensibly.

That includes things like:

➡️ Where small design adjustments could reduce production strain

So your collection is easier to manufacture, without losing the look and feel you want.

➡️ Whether you’re making decisions that increase cost without increasing sales value

So you’re spending money on things customers care about.

➡️ Where you may be able to simplify production behind the scenes

So costs stay under control and your margins don’t get squeezed before you even launch.

AI image of a fashion designer sketching at a desk, representing designing a fashion collection and refining garment designs before production.

This is where we define what makes your collection meaningfully different, and why someone would buy from you instead of a brand they already know.

In the audit, I’ll look at things like:

➡️ What your collection is really “about” (the clear angle behind it)

So you can design with direction, not doubt.

➡️ What makes your pieces stand out in the market

So you’re not launching into a sea of similar products.

➡️ What your collection needs to communicate at a glance

So customers immediately get it and want in.

➡️ Where to dial things up (or simplify) to strengthen your point of difference

So the collection feels intentional and easier to sell later.

Market positioning + point of difference (so you’re not blending in)

"….I learned a completely different way of thinking about marketing. Instead of hard selling, Vicki teaches you how to share your progress and build trust with your audience over time. What I really appreciate is how practical and approachable her advice is. She shares lots of useful tips and free tools that make marketing feel much less overwhelming.

…Through this process, she reviews my work, gives thoughtful suggestions, and helps me refine my ideas. I’ve been learning how to create visual content using tools like Canva to support my blog posts and social media, which has made the whole marketing process feel much more manageable and even enjoyable.

…I’ve found it really interesting to shift my perspective and think more from a customer’s point of view, creating content that helps people understand the sustainability side of my brand while also sharing styling tips that flatter petite body shapes.

….The whole experience feels creative and enjoyable, and it’s reassuring to know that you don’t need to spend a lot of money on marketing. Vicki’s way of supporting her students and clients gives you the tools and mindset to explore, experiment, and grow at your own pace."

I'll create a clear, actionable report with my findings and insights. It's not a 100 page document you’ll never read: you’re busy, and the goal here is momentum, not information overload.

Not vague feedback. Not “nice designs!”.

Real insight into whether each piece is set up to sell, work within the range, and make sense for profit and production.

So you can move forward knowing your collection is built like a business, not a gamble.

Common mistakes The Collection Review helps you avoid

This is the part nobody tells you when you’re creating your first collection.

It’s not usually one big mistake that causes problems.

It’s lots of small decisions that feel totally fine at the time…until you’re halfway through sampling with a sinking feeling in your stomach.

The Collection Review helps you avoid things like:

Vicki Wallis, The Fashion Business Coach

Hi, I'm Vicki. Welcome! 👋

If you’re designing you collection and thinking…

Is this really going to sell?

Am I about to spend a load of money and regret it?

I get it.

And I know it’s a lot to carry on your own…because I’ve been there too.

When I was growing my own brand, I was juggling a million moving parts at once - designs, production, pricing, suppliers, launches, and all the behind-the-scenes decisions nobody warns you about.

And honestly? I made a lot of mistakes I’d love for you to avoid!

Despite starting with a tiny budget and zero connections, I built a global label with loyal customers across four continents, landed stockists worldwide, and secured features in top media (including Vogue Diaries).

For the past 10 years through The Fashion Business Coach, I’ve helped founders create collections that don’t just look beautiful, but make sense commercially too - so you can design with confidence, manufacture efficiently, and launch without that horrible “what if” feeling.

The goal isn’t perfection.

It’s a collection that’s designed to sell, optimised to make profit, and created to move your brand forward.
